Earthbound

I received a pleasant surprise this week.  My Earthbound Oracle deck arrived!  It is the first Kickstarter project I have backed.  An oracle deck from Wooden Tarot artist Andy Swartz was hard to resist.

I haven't tried the deck out yet, but I enjoyed going through the cards and admiring the artwork.  I especially like the design for the back.

After working with over-sized oracle cards, it is weird coming back to playing card size.  Even though the cards are smaller the imagery doesn't get lost.  I like the simplicity of the artwork.  That, and the lack of a guidebook, will help me be more intuitive with my readings...or daily draws...whatever I choose to use the deck for.

I love all the card images but, as always, some stood out more than others.  Still...it was hard choosing which ones to show on my blog.  Enjoy the photos!

  1. Lovely deck. I have recently bought Soulcards 1. This deck has no guidebook either and I love it. It is so reassuring that you can not get it "wrong" and that you intuition is always "right"and "spot on" :D

    1. I looked up the Soulcards, the art is very interesting. It's not abstract but is moving in that direction. And they still have a lot of feeling in them. I can see how they would encourage use of the intuition. I hope you enjoy them!

  2. This looks like a pretty interesting deck. The images seem both spare but rich. There aren't a lot of images to be seen online but the ones I have seen are intriguing. Can't tell if there's a preponderance of skull cards though. It looks like there might be but again hard to tell from the limited selection of the cards up for view. Thanks for sharing the deck here.

    1. The majority of the cards are nature/animals. I'm pretty happy with how the art turned out. The only card with skull is the Death card, which is fine with me. If you are interested, you can see all the images on the artist's website: http://www.skullgarden.net/art/the-earthbound-oracle/
